Let the Right One In

Let the Right One In

I never dive into horror books. I like the mystery and atmosphere that comes with the genre, but I have never read a book that spooked me.  That was before Let the Right One In.

Before reading the novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist, I saw the movie. After enjoying the movie so much, I knew I had to find its source material. Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist is a vampire novel. Don’t let that deter you. It’s a vampire novel the same way that 50 Shades of Gray is a “novel” about appropriate sexual habits. Let the Right One In is twisted, thrilling, dark, and bloody.

Let the Right One In tells the story of 12 year old Oscar and his neighbor Eli. The reader early on learns that something is off with Eli. She’s not your typical little girl, who lives with her father.  Each chapter is told from a different character’s POV and it all comes together in the end. A touch of Neil Gaiman mixed with some Stephen King; Let the Right One In comes highly recommended.
